Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) believes that Shakespeare speaks to everyone. A recipient of the Regional Theatre Tony Award®, CST is known for vibrant productions that reflect Shakespeare’s genius for storytelling, language and empathy for the human condition. CST has evolved into a dynamic company, producing award-winning plays at its Navy Pier home on downtown Chicago’s lakefront, throughout the region’s schools and neighborhoods, and on stages around the world. Through a year-round season encompassing more than 650 performances, CST attracts 225,000 audience members annually. One in four of its audience members is under eighteen years old, and today its education programs have enhanced the learning of more than one million students. CST is proud to take an active role in empowering the next generation of literate, engaged cultural champions and creative minds.
Chicago Shakespeare Theater will present a touring production of Romeo and Juliet, as part of their SHORT SHAKESPEARE! program. The company will provide related educational activities, including teacher workshops, post-performance talkbacks, and a study guide. They anticipate reaching 23 schools located in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
